He performs digital forensic investigations and e-discovery evidence-gathering procedures for civil, criminal, and bankruptcy proceedings and leverages advanced data analytics in the investigation analysis.

    Alex Jason, MFS, CSCSA has been a forensic analyst for over 25 years and is an expert in crime scene analysis and reconstruction. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, a Senior Certified Crime Scene Analyst, and he is also Certified in Forensic Photography and Digital Imaging.

    Jason holds certification as an AXON Video Analyst and Metrologist. Certified in Forensic Digital Analysis and Authentication (NCMC). He often performs analysis for law enforcement agencies of body worn cameras and security cameras. He has a Masters in Forensic Science.
  • Alexis Brignoni

    Alexis Brignoni has been serving the area of Orlando, Florida for the last 14 years as a Special Agent of a Federal Law Enforcement agency. A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, he has a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and an MBA in Management of Information Systems. Before working as a digital forensics examiner, he was a case agent tasked with investigating online crimes against children, network intrusions, intellectual property and online fraud among others. Currently holding multiple digital forensics certifications, Alexis Brignoni has been focused on mobile app digital forensics as an area of interest due to the ever-evolving challenge of parsing a never-ending stream of new applications for relevant data.     Barbara Guttman has been leading the NIST Digital Evidence program for over 20 years, focusing on the correct and efficient processing of digital evidence.  She is also a member of the Scientific Working Group on Digital Evidence (SWGDE)  and the Organization of Scientific Area Committees (OSAC) Digital Evidence Subcommittee.  She is the Leader of the Software Quality Group and also the Voting Systems Program Manager.
  • Bart Wolczyk

    Bart Wolczyk is a software engineer at Magnet Forensics. For the past five years, he has worked on implementing recovery software for the various makes and models of DVR recorders and more recently for cloud-based security systems. He has also worked on custom DVR cases including the recovery of deleted footage, and recovery of footage from damaged drives. Bart has 16 years of software engineering experience across several industries including digital forensics, data backup, e-commerce, and merchant services. He holds a BS in Computer Science from Southeast Missouri State University.
  • Beth Jenkins

    Beth Jenkins is a Digital Forensics Lecturer at the University of South Wales. She is a former Forensic Quality Specialist for Gwent Police where she specialised in all things accreditation. The project work she completed for both her BSc (Hons) and MSc were commended by the Forensic Science Regulator and members of the Forensic Capability Network, winning her Cyber Newcomer of the Year at the Cyber Security Awards in 2022. Beth has spoken at various conferences on the topic of accreditation such as the Magnet Virtual Summit, Forensic F3 Forum, and Europol’s Forensic Experts Forum in 2021 and 2022. Her interests lie firmly within quality in the world of Digital Forensics. She is very passionate about implementing accreditation and educating individuals on its effective use within laboratories. Beth has dedicated her career to breaking down the barriers surrounding accreditation and aims to make standardisation an achievable goal rather than a taboo topic.
  • William Odom

    William Odom has over 27 years of experience in computer forensics, cybersecurity investigations, electronic discovery, and expert testimony globally. He is a Co-Founder for Orbital Data Consulting, where he leads the global team for Digital Forensic and Incident Response investigations. He began his career in this area as a Special Agent with the FBI where he received training in general investigative techniques, computer intrusion and security matters and national intelligence and counterintelligence matters. He was also certified through the FBI Laboratory as a Certified Computer Forensics Examiner for the FBI’s Computer Analysis Response Team (CART). During his service, he managed the Computer Forensics Lab for the Houston office of the FBI and was involved in nearly all the 200+ federal matters investigated by the FBI, ranging from white-collar crime to terrorism and national security matters.

    His experience includes cybersecurity breaches and intrusion investigations, electronic discovery, forensic computer science, information security and data analysis experience. He has significant expert testimony experience related to computer forensics, written numerous affidavits and managed the collection of thousands of computers, network and mobile devices. He routinely consults with clients regarding electronic discovery matters, such as helping clients prepare for discovery by assessing sources of Electronically Stored Information (“ESI”) and designing preservation and collection protocols. He has directed the preservation, analysis, and review of ESI in a range of matters including intrusion and criminal investigations, independent litigation, regulatory compliance, and internal inquiries.

    He has led numerous projects for Fortune 500 companies and their counsel. His experiences in these matters cover numerous industries, including: Oil and Gas, Automotive, Financial Services, Healthcare, Consumer Products, Technology, Retail, and Manufacturing.

    Brandon Epstein is the Chief Forensic Officer at Medex Forensics has and has been a digital forensic examiner since 2014. Brandon holds a Master of Science degree in Recording Arts – Emphasis Media Forensics as well as numerous digital forensic certifications. He is the chair of the Scientific Working Group on Digital Evidence and is a member of the IAI’s Forensic Video Certification board, IACP Cybercrime and Digital Evidence committee, the American Academy of Forensic Science, and the NIST/OSAC Video/Imaging Technology and Analysis Subcommittee. Brandon is an adjunct professor in the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Forensic Science Program and regularly provides digital forensic instruction to local, state, and federal law enforcement officers nationwide and internationally.

    Cameron Blanchard is a senior undergraduate fellow in the Notre Dame International Security Program majoring in Political Science and Psychology and minoring in Computing and Digital Technologies with a focus in Cyber Safety and Security. Her academic experience includes privacy and security, cyber law, applications of steganography, and technological investigative techniques. In addition to her studies, Blanchard is an Investigator at the St. Joseph County Cyber Crimes Unit, where she conducts forensic acquisitions and examinations and composes search warrants for active criminal investigations in the Michigan-Indiana area.

    Christopher Vance is a Senior Technical Forensics Specialist with Magnet Forensics specializing in mobile and macOS research.   • Christopher Kelly

    Chris Kelly is the Director of the Digital Evidence Laboratory for the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. In this role, Chris supervises a team of forensic investigators who examine digital evidence and surmount technical challenges in criminal investigations. Prior to his appointment to this position, Chris served as Managing Attorney of the Cyber Crime Division, where he worked with the team to design and implement priority projects and trainings as set forth in the Massachusetts Strategic Plan for Cyber Crime. Before joining the Attorney General’s Office, Chris worked for the Suffolk County, Massachusetts, District Attorney’s Office, where he built and ran the Computer Forensic Laboratory. During his tenure in Suffolk, Chris also prosecuted cyber cases and assisted personnel with digital evidence in all types of criminal cases. Chris holds several digital forensic certifications including the GCFA, GASF, CCE, CCME, DFCP and 3CE. He develops curriculum and serves as a staff instructor at the United States Secret Service’s National Computer Forensic Institute. Chris also serves as an adjunct professor, designing and teaching digital forensics and criminal justice courses for the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences at the University of New Haven. Chris serves as a leader or active member of several professional associations related to cybercrime and digital forensics including the IACP, AAFS, and OSAC.

    David has extensive experience in the US federal government through his 20 years of Federal services. Having served as the Chief Information Officer for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), David led the IT modernization of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) mortgage loan systems and its $1.3 trillion portfolio, matured agency’s cybersecurity program and drove operational efficiencies using robotic process automation and artificial intelligence. Prior to his HUD role, he served as Principal Deputy CIO and Chief Information Security Officer with the National Credit Union Administration for seven years. During this same time, he was appointed as an Executive Advisor to the CIO of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) with a focus on cybersecurity programs and IT operational efficiencies. He also served in executive and leadership positions at the Department of Transportation and the White House.

    David Miles is President of Magnet Forensics, where he oversees day-to-day activities and is responsible for managing the overall vision and strategy of the company. He has nearly 20 years of experience in cybersecurity. Prior to Magnet Forensics, David was also a co-founder and VP of R&D at Endgame which initially built cyber security capabilities for the government sector. Endgame later launched a commercial endpoint security platform pioneering active defense and “hunt” capabilities to discover threats and adversaries on the network. Endgame was acquired by Elastic (ESTC) in 2019 for $234 million. In addition, David has held technical and business development leadership roles at Optiv (formerly Accuvant) and Internet Security Systems (acquired by IBM in 2006).

    Doug Metz is a Professional Services Consultant with Magnet Forensics. Doug has nearly 20 years of DFIR experience supporting government, private sector and academic institutions – from building and protecting secure networks, to defending them, to identifying and responding to compromises.

    Prior to Magnet, Doug served as Global Incident Response Manager for a Fortune 200, managing a global team of analysts and the Security Operations Center. Doug is a member of the High Tech Crime Investigators Association (HTCIA) and is a volunteer for Magnet’s Auxtera Project.

    Drew Roberts joined Magnet Forensics in 2018 and has over 10 years experience in product management.     Jason Jordaan is leading digital forensics, incident response, and cybercrime investigation specialist. He has been acknowledged in as an expert witness in the High Court of South Africa. He began his digital forensics career in the early days of the development of the digital forensics discipline when he combined his love for computers and technology with his role as a police detective. He served as a detective with the South African Police Service Commercial Branch, before moving to the Special Investigating Unit, where he established their digital forensics laboratory. In 2014, after being instrumental in multiple high-profile investigations over 23 years of service, he resigned from his position as National Head of Cyberforensics to establish DFIRLABS. As the founder and Principal Forensic Analyst of DFIRLABS, Jason leads the practice, and continues to conduct high-level digital forensics engagements throughout the globe.

    Jason is also an active academic, researcher, author, speaker, advisor, and trainer. He is a member of the faculty of the SANS Technology Institute. He teaches digital forensics, and is a course author, for the SANS Institute, and has taught digital forensics to some of the leading law enforcement agencies, intelligence services, and military units in the world, including the FBI, US Secret Service, London Metropolitan Police, UK National Crime Agency, US Special Operations Command, Australian Air Force, the German Army, and more. He is actively involved in mentoring law enforcement digital forensic practitioners as a member of IACIS. His author has been published in several peer reviewed journals, with his recent research focusing on quality assurance in digital forensics. Jason is also a co-author and contributing author to several books. He is a member of the Advisory Board for the University of Pretoria, the SANS Institute, and served as an advisor to the South African Deputy Minister of Justice for the development of the South African Cyber Crime Act.

    Jean-François’ career began in IT systems management a little over ten years ago before specializing in cybersecurity. Jean-François then joined the National Bank of Canada team to support their cyber defense team and help advance the cyber incident response practice. His motivation has always been to help, using his skills, to prevent cyberattacks and to complicate, as much as possible, the life of cybercriminals.

    Jessica Hyde is an experienced forensic examiner in both the government and commercial sectors. She is the founder of Hexordia and an Adjunct Professor teaching Mobile Forensics in the Digital Forensics graduate program at George Mason University, where she achieved an MS in Computer Forensics. She is also involved in several community efforts including Associate Editor for the Forensic Science International: Digital Investigations Journal, Chair of DFIR Review, 2nd VP on the International Executive Committee of the High Tech Crime Investigation Association, and advisory board for Cyber Sleuths Lab. Her previous roles include Director of Forensics at Magnet Forensics, Senior Mobile Exploitation Analyst for Basis Technology, Senior at EY, and Senior Electrical Engineer at American Systems. Jessica is also proud to be a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

    Kim Bradley retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky where she worked the last nine years of her career as Forensic Computer Examiner with the Kentucky State Police (KSP). She was assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Cyber Crime Task Force and worked for five years at the Kentucky Regional Forensics Laboratory (KRCFL). While at the KRCFL, she earned the Computer Analysis Response Team (CART) Forensic Examiner certification and served as the Laboratory Quality Manager. After returning to KSP’s Electronic Crime Branch Laboratory from the task force assignment, she became a Certified Law Enforcement Instructor with the Kentucky Law Enforcement Counsel and provided numerous training classes for sworn officers, intelligence analysts and other support personnel while also working mainly Internet Crimes Against Children examinations. Prior to her retirement, she helped to establish and manage a satellite KSP Digital Forensics Laboratory on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University. As a detective with the Rock Hill Police Department in South Carolina, Trey was sworn as a Special Deputy United States Marshal and supported the US Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force. Previously, he served in roles in both Patrol and Professional Standards.

    Most recently, as a corporate investigator, Trey managed the Enterprise Cyber Education and Awareness Team at Capital One, where he also served as part of the Cyber Technical Investigations Team.
